Our layer hens are fed feed that we grind ourselves. It is made of corn, soybean meal, and a mineral mix. The hens are housed in two coops and are let out every day to roam. The hens love to take dust baths and hunt for bugs!
Eggs are collected daily and refrigerated. We do not wash our eggs because the hen puts a protective coating on the egg called the "bloom". This keeps the egg fresh for a few weeks. We refrigerate the eggs after collection and bring them to the Farmers Markets once a week. (Please note: If there are any large clumps of dirt on an egg, these are removed by hand.)
Since we sell out every week, you can be guaranteed that you are buying very fresh eggs! Please wash your eggs before you use them just like you would a piece of fruit.
Our cartons are made of molded pulp and are reusable if clean. Kindly bring them back to the markets so that we may reuse them.
Our broiler chickens are fed the same ingredients as our layer hens. They are housed in chicken tractors that are moved once a day so that the chickens have a continuous supply of fresh grass and bugs. Our broilers average about 4 pounds and are available fresh or frozen and are only available for on farm pickup.
